Bell Elementary's Newest Club!

Bell Elementary is proud to announce their newest after school activity, Garden Club! It started with a handful of 4th grade girls and their dream to start a school garden. Now, our little club has expanded to 45 green thumbed 2nd-6th graders!
The purpose of our club is to grow yummy vegetables and beautiful flowers, in the hopes to donate them to local shelters! Students are not only learning the process of growing plants, but the wonderful experience it is to give back to their community!
Our kiddos have also learned what it takes to be patient! During the month of March, the kids spent much of the club time preparing for planting! They've brainstormed vegetables and flowers they'd like to grow and what it takes to grow them. They certainly are learning a lot and will soon be excellent gardeners. We appreciate their hard work and patience as we wait for the ground to thaw and for the last frost to come. The waiting will all be worth it towards the end of spring and summer!
Next week the Garden Club will be digging up our plots- planting time is upon us! We are fortunate to have two plots- one for vegetables and the other for flowers and herbs. Currently the students are collecting seed packets and mulch. Donations are always welcomed!
Stay tuned for more pictures of our special garden! We are very thankful for the support of our wonderful school!
